Program overview
Goal: Empower apprentices with foundational knowledge, real‑world experience, and personal growth opportunities to build stable, fulfilling futures.
- Length: 12 months (Year 1) with structured phases
- Format: Paid, hands‑on training + workshops + mentorship
- Partner: YSS provides wraparound support; Pro 243 provides jobsite training
- Mission: Develop the next generation of construction professionals through mentorship, craftsmanship, and integrity
Year 1 phases
Phase 1: Foundation (Months 0–3)
Goal: Establish fundamental skills and job readiness.
- OSHA‑10 safety certification
- Basic tool use & maintenance; construction math & measurements
- Reading blueprints & specs; communication & teamwork
- Professional behavior, time management; mentorship pairing
Deliverable: Apprentice Safety Certification + hands‑on module completion.
Phase 2: Application (Months 4–8)
Goal: Apply skills on active job sites.
- Framing, concrete, drywall, and finish work
- Site setup & cleanup; tool accountability & material management
- Project sequencing & jobsite efficiency
- Client exposure & project communication
Deliverable: Demonstrated task proficiency, punctuality, teamwork; milestone‑based raises.
Phase 3: Advancement (Months 9–12)
Goal: Prepare for independent work or long‑term employment.
- Intro to design‑build process; leadership & crew coordination
- Quality control & inspections; time tracking & payroll basics
- Career pathway planning; portfolio documentation
Deliverable: Graduation as a Pro 243 Certified Apprentice; potential full‑time offer.

Compensation & Incentives
- Starting wage: $15/hour (raises at milestones)
- Performance bonuses: Attendance, safety, teamwork
- Completion bonus: $1,000 at graduation
